Keeping Up the Shape with Leg Workouts for Women

Monday, February 13th, 2012

Women’s legs are probably the most worked out parts of their bodies-both in terms of exercises and everyday activities. Since most women have jobs that require walking and standing for long periods of time, the legs are almost always sore. This is why many fitness experts recommend leg workouts for women that does not only make the muscles firm but also relaxes the flow of blood. It is important that these exercises are not overdone to avoid blood clots in the nerves inside both legs.

Leg workouts for women are also the best way to shape legs that are already expanding or becoming too muscular with work. There are several leg exercises that women can undergo:

Lunges. Preferred by many people because of its ease to perform even at home, lunges enhance coordination and muscle strength. Lunges are done by having one foot step forward and lowering the upper body to make the thigh perpendicular to the foot forwarded. Done repeatedly, the lunge is an effective way to maintain leg physique any time.

CalfRaises. These are exercises are done mostly for shaping calves. The drill is simple: the person should only raise themselves on tiptoes and slowly lower the heels of their feet until such a point that they almost touch the floor. The exercise may be done even in the comforts of one’s home.

Lifts. In doing lifts, the person has to lie flat on his or her back and repeatedly and alternately raise each leg. This may also be done with exercise balls wherein people can raise their legs up on the exercise balls and do upper body curls.

Since the legs are relatively always fatigued, engaging them in exercise not only help shape them up but also release the tension that they contain. Leg workouts for women aim to do just that. It is just important to take note that these exercises do not necessarily guarantee thinner legs. They are exercises for toning-to keep the legs in great working shape to avoid making them too muscular. For a pair that carries most of the body’s weight, the legs are very much in need of pampering and proper exercises to keep them in good shape.

Resistance Training Exercises Vs. Cardio

thumbs passive resistance training atl ga 1960 3 James KaralesThere are many theories as to what is the best workout for burning fat. I have been doing resistance training exercises for over 15 years now and finally figured out the key to losing fat. It has nothing to do with exercise. Losing fat depends on how many calories you are eating. You can be doing both resistance training and cardio steadily and still not lose fat. All you have to do is burn more calories then you are consuming. The greater the difference the faster you will lose the weight. This past summer I cut my calories and did resistance training and I was successful at losing a lot of fat. The problem with only doing resistance training is that I am out of breath when I have to do anything that involves my cardiovascular system. I feel that it is important to combine both resistance training and cardio in your workouts.

My Favorite Device is the Garmin Forerunner 305 GPS Receiver

Garmin Forerunner 305 Front Garmin Forerunner 305 GPS ReviewFor a month I’ve been training and have found a schedule from the internet that I wanted to use to train for a marathon. But I wasn’t able to record my trainings as I didn’t have a device or tool to note down the schedules. After bickering and checking a lot, I found this sport watch that I immediately fell in love with. I’m so happy that I chose the Garmin Forerunner 305 GPS Receiver . The amount of information I have gathered after 1 month of training, I feel I will be able to be on schedule for the Boston Marathon in no time, and I never would have thought about doing the New York Marathon afterwards, but since i’m feeling this good I am convinced i’m able to run both marathons. The Garmin Forerunner 305 GPS Receiver has given me so much insight in my own body, that I now know exactly when to rest and when to train. It monitors my heart rate so it gives me the benefit of timing my exercises really well so I can maximize the effort I put in my exercise.

It’s awesome looking and I will stick with this device for as long as humanly possible. I don’t need anything anymore with this sport watch.

Exercise Ball Ab Workouts Are Great for Complimentary Exercises

Friday, January 27th, 2012

The beauty of Exercise Ball Ab Workouts exercises is that you can do them as complimentary exercises. These exercises actually involve the muscles that are found at your core while you are performing other exercises. Take for instance, if you are doing something such as dumbbell presses while you are seated on a large balance ball then your core muscles must work hard to assist you in keeping your balance. You can play around and substitute a large Swiss ball for your desk chair. This way you keep doing some exercise while also getting the job done. Exercise balls can be used on their own or complimented by other equipments such as resistance bands or the free weights. The bottom line is that exercise balls can add a much appreciated boost into your regular abs routine and are worth a try. It has been noted that exercise ab workouts are quite effective.
